Shadow Commander – The Epic Story of Donald D. Blackburn, Guerilla Leader and Special Forces Hero by Mike Guardia.
When the American forces in the Philippines surrendered in April, 1942, not all went into captivity. Captain Donald D. Blackburn was one of those who not only escaped imprisonment, but chose to continue the fight, raising and commanding a large local guerrilla force which harassed the Japanese until the country was liberated more than two years later. Following WW2, Blackburn served with distinction in America’s developing special forces, including commanding the U.S. Studies and Observations Group in Vietnam in the mid 1960s.
